About Aura
A VisionBorn inSilence.
A personal connection to Lapland that became something worth sharing.
Our Story
It started with silence.
For Timo, Lapland has always been home in spirit — a place of deep personal connection, of vast stillness and light that shifts hour by hour. The way winter strips everything back to what matters.
Riikka comes from a different world entirely. A former professional volleyball and beach volleyball player, she competed in the world's most respected leagues, won the Champions League multiple times, and represented Finland internationally. Years among different cultures and nationalities shaped a deep understanding of hospitality, wellbeing, and what makes people feel truly at home.
Eventually the question became unavoidable: what if this feeling — Lapland's silence, the discipline of wellbeing, the warmth of being genuinely cared for — could be shared? Not as a hotel, but as a home. Not at scale, but with care.
Together they developed and built Aura Arctic Chalets: two glass chalets on a private fell plot, surrounded by nothing but wilderness. Timo leads construction and property development in Finland; Riikka oversees property management and the guest experience, drawing on her athlete's understanding of wellbeing. No reception desk, no lobby, no uniforms — just a family who knows Lapland by heart and treats every guest like a friend.

Our Philosophy
Less infrastructure. More intention.
Aura was never designed to scale. Two chalets, one family, a small circle of trusted local partners. That's the entire operation.
We believe the best hospitality comes from knowing every guest by name — not from systems, but from genuine care and attention to what matters. Every experience is arranged personally, every detail considered.
The chalets were chosen for their architecture — walls of glass that dissolve the boundary between inside and out — and for the land they sit on: a private fell plot, untouched.

Two chalets only
Small by design, not by accident.
Family operated
Every decision made by the people who greet you.
Local roots
Built on relationships with the community.
Quiet confidence
No noise. Just substance.
The Difference
What makes Aura different.
At most Lapland retreats, you're looked after by rotating hotel staff following standard procedures. At Aura, Riikka and Timo host every stay personally — the same people who built the property, who know the land, and who genuinely care how your trip unfolds. There is no front desk and no shift changes, just a family who treats guests like friends.
Where glass igloo hotels share grounds, lobbies, and restaurants with dozens of other guests, Aura is entirely private. Two chalets on a quiet fell plot, with no shared spaces and no one else on site unless you invite them. The wilderness outside your window is yours alone.
And rather than choosing from a fixed menu of pre-packaged excursions, every experience at Aura is arranged around you — your interests, your pace, and the season. From a private northern lights safari to a quiet morning with nowhere to be, nothing is templated. Everything is personal.
Your Hosts
A family, not a brand.

Aura is run entirely by Riikka and Timo. There is no management company, no investor board, no call centre. When you book, you're speaking to the people who built this place and who will be there when you arrive.
Riikka brings a former professional athlete's discipline to hospitality. After a career in elite volleyball and beach volleyball — Champions League titles, international competition, years among teammates from every corner of the world — she now leads property management and the guest experience at Aura, with a deep understanding of wellbeing at the centre of everything.
Timo's connection to Lapland runs deep and personal. He leads construction and property development in Finland, and together with Riikka he developed and built Aura. His calm precision behind the scenes means guests experience only effortless comfort and seamless arrivals.
